5 Ways with Wild Wheat Bread Bowls

Just in time for winter warmer season, our clever friends at Wild Wheat have created a limited edition mini loaf that's just perfect for turning into a delicious bread bowl!  You can get as creative as you like with the fillings, from decadent chowders to breakfast in bread.  To help you get started, we've rounded up 5 of our favourite ideas: 

1. Breakfast in Bread

Sauté your favourite mushrooms and spinach in a little butter, pop them in a hollowed-out bun, top with an egg and bake at 180°C until the white has just set. Finish with a sprinkling of soft herbs or a little grated gruyère for a fun and flavourful breakfast in bread. 

2. Baked Camembert 

For a warming winter starter, pop a whole camembert into a hollowed-out bowl and bake at 200°C for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is soft and melting. Serve with your favourite chutney, crackers, and crudités for dipping.

3. Seafood Chowder 

You can't go past this tried and true classic! Recreate the legendary San Franciscan dish by toasting our bread bowls before filling them with your favourite seafood chowder. This creamy version with pancetta and mussels is a favourite of ours.  

4. Cosy Casserole 

For a wonderfully hearty dinner for two, fill two hollowed-out bread bowls with your favourite casserole. We recommend Farro Kitchen's newest creation: deliciously warming Beef Cheek, Beer and Barley - in stores from Wednesday 12th May. 

5. Oozy Spinach Dip 

Sauté baby spinach with a little garlic, then add cream cheese, grated mozzarella, and parmesan. Bake the cheesy mixture in a hollowed-out bowl and use the toasted lid for dipping, along with your favourite crudités. Perfect for entertaining!
