Good Oil sources locally grown crops in South Canterbury and Southland. Once harvested from around 60 arable farmers, it is delivered to and cold pressed at Pure Oil NZ’s crush plant in Rolleston.
Rapeseed is a member of the brassica family and has seen a real resurgence overseas recently as an oil of choice for everyday cooking. It contains omegas 3, 6 and 9, which reduce cholesterol and help to maintain healthy joint, brain and heart functions. As it is high in mono-unsaturated fats, it is one of the only unblended oils that can be heated to a high frying temperature and not spoil its antioxidants, character, colour or flavour.
Pure Oil NZ has full oversight of the growing and oil production. It sources GE-free seed for planting and supports the whole process through the growing and harvesting of the crop, to the pressing and storage of the oil.
It uses a cold pressing process with no chemicals (solvents) or added heat applied during the oil extraction process. The resulting oil retains its natural flavours and antioxidants with very low levels of free fatty acids.
Rapeseed oil is like ‘extra virgin’ canola oil, because this is stage one before further processing makes it into what we know as canola oil.
Good Oil, with a mild nutty taste, is a perfect everyday oil for cooking, deep and shallow frying, roasting and baking – what more do you need?
Look for the great packaging on the oil shelf this month.
